Homemade Pesto Recipe

You may substitute other herbs or greens for basil to make it interesting. We have used garlic scapes and arugula with very tasty results!!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese fresh
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup olive oil

Instructions

  • Add the fresh basil leaves, garlic,  nuts, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to the bowl of your food processor. Pulse 5 times until a coarse mixture forms.
  • Turn the food processor on low and slowly add olive oil in a steady stream.
  • Serve the pesto immediately or store refrigerated. Make sure it is covered. This pesto can also be frozen in containers. You may also freeze in ice trays then transferred to a freezer bag for individual use!
